Thermistors are the
ideal choice for low cost, high sensitivity applications in the moderate
temperature range up to 325 degrees C. They provide the precise sensing
capability required in many demanding temperature control applications in the
industrial, commercial and scientific field. Thermistors are also used in many
medical and instrumentation applications.
Thermistors consist
of a mixture of metal oxides encapsulated in epoxy or glass, which exhibit a
distinct non-linear (usually negative NTC) variation of resistance with
temperature. Matching thermistors to an instrument is critical because of the
high base resistance and variations between elements. But they allow for long
lead lengths without calibration error and precise control, usually to within
0.5 degree or better.
Thermistors are
offered in many standard configurations. Also in many cases we design and build
thermistor probes exactly to customer specification.
